The possibility of producing lighter cars with advanced nano-structured steel

Summary:

University researchers have succeeded in introducing a new generation of advanced nano-structured steels for the automotive and home appliance industries. The desirable mechanical properties of this steel, such as its lightweight yet high strength (being light and at the same time rigid) and its production method which is quite similar to conventional methods (despite the use of advanced nanotechnology in manufacturing). The project, commissioned by university graduate Mohsen Askari Pikani, Dr. Hamid Reza Shahverdi (faculty member), and Dr. Reza Mirmasili (faculty member), is published in the journal "Materials Science and Engineering: A" with an Impact Factor of 4.081.
